Glossary

The terms you'll see on product pages, quotes and mockups.

Pad printing
An inked silicone pad transfers a logo onto curved or small surfaces such as lighters and tubes. Usually one or two spot colors.
Screen printing
Ink pushed through a mesh screen, one screen per color. Bold, opaque and durable; used on totes, apparel and flat items.
Laser etching (laser engraving)
A laser removes a surface layer (anodizing on aluminum, finish on wood) to reveal the material underneath. Permanent, one color.
Color fill
Paint added into a laser-etched or engraved recess so the logo shows in a brand color, common on wood dugouts.
Full-color (CMYK) print
Four-color process printing that reproduces photos and gradients; used on rolling paper booklets, matchbooks and tin lids.
Spot color / PMS
A single premixed ink matched to a Pantone (PMS) number for exact brand color on one-color items.
Vector art
Artwork made of paths (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) that scales without blurring; required for clean pad, screen and laser work.
Imprint area (print area)
The largest space on an item that can carry the logo, listed on each product page, e.g. about 0.45" × 2" on a Clipper body.
Virtual mockup (proof)
A digital image of your logo on the product for approval before production. Nothing prints until you approve it.
Setup fee
A one-time charge per new design for screens, plates or laser files: $40 on most items, waived on reorders of the same art.
MOQ (minimum order quantity)
The smallest quantity a decorated item can be ordered in.
Price break
A quantity threshold at which the unit price drops; the lower price applies to every piece in the line.
Rapid Run
Items kept in stock and decorated fast: about 10 business days after mockup approval.
Hazmat
Hazardous material for shipping purposes. Butane lighters ship ground only and carry a $30 hazmat charge per order.
Child-resistant (CR) packaging
Packaging certified to be hard for children to open, typically tested to 16 CFR 1700.20; required for most cannabis sold at retail.
Doob tube
A pop-top plastic tube for a pre-rolled joint, about 116 mm long.
Dugout
A small wooden or plastic box that holds ground flower and a one-hitter pipe in a spring-loaded compartment.
One-hitter
A small single-draw pipe, often shaped like a cigarette, stored in a dugout.
Kief catcher
The bottom chamber of a 4-piece grinder with a screen that collects fine trichomes.
Crutch (filter tip)
A rolled card insert at the mouth end of a joint; sold as printed booklets or business-card tip sheets.
1 1/4 papers
The common mid-size rolling paper (about 78 × 44 mm).
King size slim (KSS)
A longer, narrower rolling paper (about 109 × 44 mm).
Ready-made (stock) design
A pre-decorated item with existing artwork, sold with no minimum and shipped in 1–3 business days.
